Marketing Case Study:
Bloody Point Lighthouse
Marketing and branding for a historic lighthouse and museum on Daufuskie Island, SC
Following an extensive historical restoration project of Bloody Point Lighthouse, the owner reached Tucker Marketing Group to help introduce the public to this one-of-a-kind property through visual and video storytelling.
The Bloody Point Lighthouse on Daufuskie Island was named after the Indian battles that took place there in the early 1700s. The light guided ships into the Savannah River Channel from 1883 to 1922. Due to erosion over the years, a team of mules and oxen moved the lighthouse by dragging it over timbered logs, several hundred yards from the coastline, to its present location today.
New marketing helps historic lighthouse shine brighter
Logo and Website Design
After ample research and client meetings, our team started the project by creating a logo incorporating the original lighthouse tower. We then designed a new website for Bloody Point Lighthouse which offered tour information, historic photos, and reservations.
Our team collaborated closely with the client to also design an authentic property guide map. This guide map helped visitors navigate the property filled with native plants, grains, and vegetables including rice, indigo, cotton, and a scuppernong vineyard harvested for wine.
Creating Additional Revenue Opportunities
With museum tours proving successful, the owners were looking for additional ways to capitalize on the culturally rich property. We considered transportation logistics and other marketing factors before the idea was proposed to offer it as a wedding venue. The 300 year old Angel Oak Tree would make a perfect backdrop. Our team quickly went to work creating compelling marketing and advertising to help fulfill reservations. As a result, Bloody Point Lighthouse received its first wedding reservation within 2 weeks of starting.
